After 5 years, how golf industry would be changing? In my opinion, it would change into a communication place. According to 골퍼의 라운드 시 행위에 대한 골프장 캐디의 주관적 인식 체계 유형, there are three kinds of types in golfers. One is fitness type which is just think about their health and they have a tendency to walk for their health during playing golf. Second thing is sociotropy. This type golfers have a tendency to pontificate about their life "I am better than you" or "I have lots of money than you." Lastly, leisure consumption type which is they consider golf is just play and one of hobbies. In my opinion, these three types are linked with communication.

Normally, playing golf provide golfers with establishment of target, crisis management, responsibility, concentration, choice, and knowledge that is how to prepare for winning. This is because lots of CEO consider that playing golf is one of the best place to accomplish business, make relationship, realise leadership, wisdom of life, and refill vitality. Trust and believe are important to accomplish business. To success business in Korea, many CEO try to play golf with their business partners.

According to 국민생활 체육 참여 실태조사(2010), golf is top 10 sports in Korea. Also, there are 60.2 per cent people who have a tendency to play golf.

Thesis

1. If golfers use personalised golf clubs, it would help them to improve driving distance, and reduce a score.

2. Driving distance and reducing a score might be related to music.

3. Swing tempo might be related to distance and score.

4. Applying pro golfers swing to amateur golfers swing might help amateur golfers to improve their swing.

5. If there are many places around golf clubs to provide golfers with service such as various kinds of restaurants, visitation rate of golf clubs would be improve.

6. If the temperature would be higher than currently, golfers might use virtual reality driving range rather than golf clubs.

7. Using drones instead of caddies would make visitation rate high.

8. If golf clubs have educational service, many amateur golfers would be gentlemanly.

I think it is important for researchers to understand what user's needs as well as environment. Also, harmony with both user's needs and their environment would be best proposal to researchers.

<Design for experience-JINWOO KIM>
I've read design for experience written by JINWOO KIM. He said that external point tend to closer ordinary person than experts, yet internal point have a tendency to closer experts than ordinary person. I have a question on this theory. Here is my example. "Golf products or services for professional golfers might help amateur golfers". In terms of this example, internal point might be relevant for ordinary person, or external point might be relevant for experts.

<TED>
When I saw the case for optimism on climate change in TED video, I realised that golf industry might relate with climate change. Because people are influenced by the weather. For example, if the weather is cold two third a year, most people want to wear more clothes. It leads to change fashion trend. I think the weather could also affect products and services by changing people's behaviour. It would be interesting topic in terms of golf industry.

<Reference>
-The marketing activities of new golf developments in the UK and Ireland-
I've read this reference. According this reference, many developers have ignored the trends in the market preferring to develop more luxurious facilities rather than what their customers want. This is because the author insist that new golf developments could achieve greater success by improving their understanding of their market, their customers and competitors, by conducting thorough market research prior to developing the course.

-Marketing Golf's Health Benefits Can Help The Game's Own Health-
1. "Sports are becoming like music; we watch them instead of play them."
2. Playing golf can be part of the plan for healthier living.
3. Walking instead of riding golf-carts is not only get exercise, but also have the
    opportunity to talk with family and friends.

<Visiting Volvik company>
I got Volvik magazines. It helps me to study currently golf industry.

It is important for me to understand what is thesis and project. Here, what is the meaning of thesis and project.

Thesis = Argument = Aim of the study
Project = Goal of the project = Evidence which can support aim of study.

As I know, thesis is a part of project before took a class. But it wasn't. It's true that the project is a part of thesis. Whenever we conduct research, we should consider only one thesis. If we have two more thesis in our research, it's easy to go wrong. This is because we should focus on one thesis. The project must be concrete and small, because evidence is much more important than create idea. Still, I cannot understand 100% between aim of study and goal of project. In brief, "You should have your own argument"

In the second lecture, I learned "Design for innovation" which are

- Thinking users -> Build innovations around experience.
- Think of innovations as system.
- Cultivate and innovation culture.
- Adopt a disciplined innovation process.

Discover -> Define -> Develop -> Deliver

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was strongly impressed by TED talk which is 10 ways to have a better conversation.
Here are what she said:

1)Don't multitask - "Be present", "Be in that moment"
2)Don't pontificate - You need to enter every conversation assuming that you have                                  something to learn.
3)Use open-ended questions - Start your questions with who, what, when, where, why or                                          how.
4)Go with the flow - That means thoughts will come into your mind and you need to let                            them go out of your mind.
5)If you don't know, say that you don't know.
6)Don't equate your experience with theirs - All experiences are individual. It's not about                                                            you.
7)Try not to repeat yourself - It's condescending.
8)Stay out of the weeds - Forget the details, leave them out.
9)Listen - If you mouth is open, you're not learning.
10)Be brief.

She mentioned that the listen is most important among those factors. I agree with her opinion, because when I am doing interview as a designer, I have to know what users needs. Also, third way is impressed. Because, it's one of research methodology. I think it is basic knowledge in interview. I hope this TED lecture will help in my research.

I read chapter one that is a real experience in Design for experience written by Jinwoo Kim. I learned what is user experience. ISO defines meaning of user experience like this : "A UX as the combined experience of what a user feels, perceives, thinks, and physically and mentally reacts to before and during the use of a product or service."
There are three things that I'm impressed. Firstly, the present and future of products or services from the user's viewpoint can be understood through a focus on user experience. Secondly, experience is a simply subjective and strategic concept. Lastly, design for experience can be applied broadly to products, services, and process design.

This is plan of next week.
21/02 - 5W research method(What, Why, Who, Where, When).
22/02 - Desk research (Market)& visit Volvik golf company(ask for a booklet).
23/02 - Desk research(product, Trend).
24/02 - Desk research & Make pre-interview questions.
25/02 - Visit golf club and do pre-interview.
26/02 - Summarize.

The first semester, I have researched kitchen for professional single people. I think that it was not my interested research area. That is why I want to change the topic of research in the second semester. I already learned that there is 5W research method which are What is my research? Why do I want to do the research? Who are my research participants? Where am I going to do the research? When am I going to do the research? before approach research. Also, M.J.Kim who is SADIMdes professor taught me guide for writing thesis proposals.

Guide for writing thesis proposals
 AIMS
• Need for the research, which is significant and important contribution to the field
• The topic is feasible in terms of funding, equipment, and data
• The research can be completed in the expected time period
• Ethical issues have been considered
• Topic matches your interests and capabilities
________ New South Wales University Sidney, Australia

Among those factors of methods, I think it is important for my research to chose what is my interests. I am interested in golf. So, I really want to research future of golf industry. Because the golf industry is promising industry in the future as well as I love it. Here are pictures that I have visited golf shops for pre-research.

 And here are another pictures that I have took a picture in Americangolf store in London.

 I felt that there are a lot of things to design in golf industry.
